When Laura was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in June 2014, we were devastated.
Searching the internet for resources, we found a PD symposium in Cleveland the following week. There, among numerous resource tables, was one for a just-forming organization, InMotion. Imagine our surprise to see three familiar faces behind the table: two of the founders, Dr. Karen Jaffe and Dr. David Riley (the movement specialist who diagnosed Laura the prior week); and Lacey Roth.
InMotion opened in spring 2015 offering exercise activities, healing arts programs, and educational sessions, all at no charge to participants and all designed to support people and families facing PD. It quickly became our community, with Laura’s regular visits to exercise and volunteer, and Michael’s volunteering – including becoming a board member a few yeas ago.
We feel so strongly about InMotion’s mission and positive impact on people that we try to do whatever we can to give back, including making a monthly donation (as part of the Judy Peters Circle of Giving) and participating in every Pals in Motion fundraising event the past 8 years!
Please join our Movers & Shakers team to run or walk on September 15 at Beachwood High School. We guarantee you’ll have a great time! And if you can’t be there in person, please consider making a donation to us meet our $2,000 goal!
